Chocolate is probably one of the only things that can make me as giddy as a 3 year old in a princess dress! Having said that when I started on my journey towards health and wellbeing it was the one thing I was very reluctant to let go of….. Ok lets be honest I was never gonna give it up! So I decided that I would make it as healthy as humanly possible without compromising on flavour or taste because lets face it life is just too short to live without chocolate 😛
This Chocolate is supercharged with Superfood plant goodness. The raw cacao powder is jam-packed with antioxidants (Antioxidants protect the body from ageing and disease caused by free radicals). Scientists from Cornell University in the US recently discovered that raw cacao contains nearly twice the antioxidant content of red wine and up to three times the antioxidant content of green tea!
The Lucuma powder contains many nutrients including beta-carotene, iron, zinc, vitamin B3, calcium, protein AND this chocolate is also loaded with healthy fats from the coconut oil which is really great for healthy skin, hair and nails. Good lord people get it into you quick! 😱
Basic Raw Chocolate (Makes about 1 ½ cups)
INGREDIENTS:
½ cup Melted coconut oil
¼ cup Melted cacao butter
¾ cup Raw cacao powder
½ cup Raw honey
¼ cup Lucuma or Maca
Pinch of Sea salt or Pink Himalayan salt
Simply mix all of the above together with a small whisk and you’re good to go! You can pour it into silicone chocolate moulds (which is what I have done here) or you can pour it on to some greaseproof paper for a large slab of heaven!
Once you have made this basic Raw chocolate recipe you can put your own twists to it. For example you could try different flavours such as:
- Mint
- Orange
- Rose
- Vanilla
It is also great to play around with different fillings and toppings like:
- Nuts
- Rose petals
- Bee pollen
- Maca
- Dried fruit
Anything! The possibilities are endless so go have fun with some fabulous chocolate!
these are super cute!!
